How to eat with new braces? What should I avoid it?

If you have new or tightened braces, you may experience severe pain as your teeth tighten during the first few days. This pain will of course go away after a few days, but it is important to choose the right food and eat it while the pain persists. Basically, sticky and hard foods can break your orthodontic appliance and cause additional pain when your teeth hurt after the orthodontic appliance is installed and adjusted.

 

 

First you need to know how to eat when the orthodontic appliance is tightening your teeth. Knowing what food to eat and how to eat will allow to adapt without problems with braces.

 

Choose soft food

 

Foods that are soft and non-chewable are best when braces are attached. These foods do not break the braces and do not cause additional pain in the sensitive teeth. Food, such as some hard vegetables, are okay to eat, but preferably steamed until soft enough to be chewed. The following foods do not irritate teeth that have become sensitive due to braces.

<Tips>

-Eat small amounts of soft food with your front teeth or chew well with your molars.

-Apply lips balm to your lips before checking progress or tightening braces. This will prevent your lips from drying out and cracking.

-Avoid touching your teeth when you are sick. Touching your teeth, gums, or braces will only make the pain worse.

-Avoid eating when pain.

-Avoid carbonated drinks as they contain a lot of acid and sugar. Both of these ingredients can corrode your teeth and braces and leave white stains on your teeth. In addition, excessive consumption of carbonated drinks can lead to tooth decay.

-If the pain is severe and you are hungry, try a cold milkshake or smoothie. The low temperature will relieve the pain and the drink will satisfy your hunger.

-When chewing food, chewing on one side does not put too much stress on your teeth. 

-Do not play with the braces. Otherwise, the wire may be damaged and the treatment period may be prolonged.

-Mashed potatoes are soft and satisfying food

-Drink water with ice, however, if your drink too much at once, you may feel pain, so be careful.
